1.5 MW Wind Power Project in Rajasthan by Jivraj Tea Limited

The electricity generated will be supplied to the NEWNE grid of India, thereby displacing power that would otherwise have been generated from fossil fuel-based plants. This displacement leads to significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. The project is expected to generate 2,557 MWh of electricity annually, resulting in an average annual reduction of 2,436 tCO₂e, and a total reduction of 24,360 tCO₂e over the 10-year crediting period. As there was no prior power plant at the site, the project qualifies as a greenfield activity.

The baseline scenario assumes that, in the absence of the project, the equivalent amount of electricity would have been generated by the operation of existing and new fossil fuel-based power plants connected to the grid.

Contribution to sustainable development

The project contributes to sustainable development across following key dimensions:

1. Social Wellbeing

  • Development of infrastructure in and around the project area, including improved road connectivity.
  • Creation of local employment opportunities, improving livelihoods and quality of life.

2. Economic Wellbeing

  • Employment generation across professional, skilled, and unskilled categories during project development, construction, and operation.
  • Business opportunities for local contractors in land development, civil works, erection, operation, maintenance, and security services.
  • Additional opportunities for local electrical contractors through the construction of power evacuation infrastructure.

3. Environmental Wellbeing

  • Reduction of GHG emissions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation.
  • Lowering of associated air pollutants such as SOx, NOx, and particulate matter, improving local air quality.

4. Technological Wellbeing

  • Demonstrates the viability of wind energy in India, where fossil fuels dominate the energy mix.
  • Promotes the adoption of advanced wind technology, enhancing technical know-how and encouraging wider private-sector participation in renewable energy development.
  • Supports the long-term integration of renewable energy into the national grid, contributing to India’s clean energy transition.
