Harnessing Wind for a Sustainable Future: TCI’s Renewable Energy Initiative in India
Established in 1958, Transport Corporation of India Limited (TCI) is a leading integrated supply chain and logistics solutions provider. With over five decades of experience, TCI boasts an extensive network of over 1200 company-owned offices, offering customized, multimodal cargo transportation, warehousing, and inventory control services. Committed to sustainable practices and value creation, TCI embarked on a pioneering venture into renewable energy with the establishment of its wind power project.
In 2003, TCI strategically diversified its operations by investing in 11.50 MW of wind energy capacity across Rajasthan and Maharashtra. This initiative comprises SUZLON wind turbines, specifically four 1.25 MW machines in Rajasthan and four 1.25 MW machines along with one 1.50 MW machine in Maharashtra.
This project generates clean electricity, displacing emissions from the grid. While initially driven by governmental incentives promoting non-conventional energy, the initiative has evolved into a crucial component of TCI’s commitment to environmental stewardship and reducing its carbon footprint. By investing in renewable energy, TCI contributes to mitigating climate change and fostering a more sustainable future for India.
