Enercon Wind Farms in Karnataka Bundled Project – 30.40 MW

By mitigating an annual 69,430 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) emissions, this Project makes a substantial contribution towards realizing India’s renewable energy objectives.

Contribution to sustainable development

The WWIL project goes beyond clean energy generation. It actively promotes sustainable development through:

Social Well-being:

  • Employment: Local technicians, engineers, and workers engaged in operation & maintenance.
  • Skill Development: Wind World Training Academy provides structured training on turbine safety, climbing, and maintenance.
  • Community Development: Indirect benefits such as better access to electricity in rural areas, improved air quality, and healthier living conditions.
  • Safety & Education: Strong emphasis on safety standards and capacity-building improves human capital.

Environmental Well-being:

  • Emission Reductions: Avoided 123,463 tonnes of CO₂ in the last monitoring period alone by displacing fossil fuel-based power.
  • Air Quality Improvement: Reduction in SOx, NOx, and particulate matter from avoided coal consumption.
  • Climate Action: Contribution to India’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement.
  • Sustainable Energy Source: Harnesses wind power, a clean and renewable resource, without water pollution or solid waste generation.

Economic Well-being:

  • Energy Security: Adds 30.40 MW of clean power to the Karnataka grid, reducing reliance on imported coal and fossil fuels.
  • Cost Savings: Reduces external costs associated with fossil fuel generation (health, pollution control, fuel imports).
