Guangdong Liucheng 25.5MW Hydro Power Project
The total installed capacity of the project is 25.5MW(3*8.5MW), the project activity is expected to operate 3,343 hours per year and the net grid-connected electricity generation of 77,760MWh and the annual estimated emission reduction is 67745 tCO2e. The power generated would be transmitted to Heyuan City Grid via the 110kV Lankou transformer substation, then to the Guangdong Provincial Grid, and finally to the China Southern power Grid (CSPG).
Contribution of the project to sustainable development as follows
The contributions of the project towards sustainable development are explained with the following indicators:
Contribution to Social Wellbeing:
The project activity generates employment in the region and improves economic activities by strengthening the local electricity grid. This includes improvement of electricity quality, frequency and availability as the electricity is fed into a deficit grid.
Contribution to Economic Wellbeing:
The project activity creates direct and indirect job opportunities for the local community.
The project improves the local economy from the selling of electricity and CERs, thus increase the taxation for local government, the electricity supplied by the project ease the pressure of power shortage in Guangdong Province, one of the most industrialized areas in China.
Contribution to Environmental Wellbeing:
The project displaces part of the electricity from coal-fired power plants, thus avoiding environmental pollution caused by coal burning and with a fishway build to facilitate the fish migration.
Contribution to Technological Wellbeing:
The technology used in the project activity is clean technology and makes greater use of renewable hydroelectric resources.
