Guangdong Liucheng 25.5MW Hydro Power Project

Harnessing Hydroelectric Power for a Sustainable Future in Guangdong Province

Invest in a future powered by clean, renewable energy with this impactful hydroelectric project. Located in Guangdong Province, China, this initiative leverages the power of water to generate clean electricity, displacing reliance on fossil fuels and driving sustainable development.

This project features a total installed capacity of 25.5 MW (3 x 8.5 MW) and operates approximately 3,343 hours annually. With a net grid-connected electricity generation of 77,760 MWh per year, the project is estimated to achieve an annual emission reduction of 67,745 tCO2e. The power generated is seamlessly integrated into the region’s energy infrastructure, flowing to the Heyuan City Grid via the 110kV Lankou transformer substation, then to the Guangdong Provincial Grid, and ultimately to the China Southern Power Grid (CSPG).

Sustainable Development Contributions

This project extends beyond mere emissions reduction, fostering holistic sustainable development within the region:

  • Social Wellbeing: By strengthening the local electricity grid, the project improves electricity quality, frequency, and availability, particularly crucial in a deficit grid. It also generates valuable employment opportunities within the region, stimulating economic activity.
  • Economic Wellbeing: The project creates both direct and indirect job opportunities for the local community. Furthermore, the sale of electricity and carbon credits (CERs) boosts the local economy and increases tax revenue for the local government. By easing power shortages in Guangdong Province, a highly industrialized region, the project supports continued economic growth.
  • Environmental Wellbeing: This project displaces electricity generated from polluting coal-fired power plants, mitigating environmental damage caused by coal burning. A thoughtfully designed fishway has also been integrated into the project to facilitate fish migration, preserving local biodiversity.
  • Technological Wellbeing: Employing advanced and clean hydroelectric technology, the project maximizes the utilization of renewable water resources, contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape.
